Wildlife Photographer of the Year

Hessisches Landesmuseum Darmstadt presents a selection of more than 80 of the best nature photographs from 2024 in the exhibition ‘Wildlife Photographer of the Year’.

The exhibition originates from the Natural History Museum in London, which honors the best nature photography since 1965.

‘Wildlife Photographer of the Year’ is considered the most prestigious nature photography competition in the world and accepts submissions of both professional photographers and amateurs. A jury of international experts selects the best works from around 60,000 submissions, which are then shown in exhibitions around the world.

The impressive photographs do not only show animals in their natural habitats, but also draw attention to the influence of humans on the environment. The aim of the competition is to strengthen public interest in nature protection, conservation of species, and to shine a light on environmental problems.

Visitors can expect unique animal portraits, fascinating plant images and spectacular underwater photos.

For the 60th anniversary of the competition, Hessisches Landesmuseum Darmstadt is one of the selected international museums that present these unique photographs.
